Quigley Class of '61 Renunion
After the year at Niles, I attempted a few
different jobs and came to Steel City National Bank in March of
1965. I was there until
January, 1994. I was at
one Bank from May 1994 until March 1999.
I did some financial consulting jobs, and was at Guaranty
Bank from January 2004 until October 2007.
While at Steel City Bank I spent seven years at night and
obtained the Basic, Standard and Advanced Certificates from the
American Institute of Banking.
I worked for a Community Hospital as a public relations
consultant and currently work as an agent for an energy company (an
alternative to ComEd).
I married Sylvia and have three grown children
(two of whom are married), two sons and a daughter.
I am the proud grandfather of four boys ages 15 through 8.
In Banking I worked as a bank officer in bank
operations and was involved in account openings, consulting,
security, facility maintenance, fraud matters and other venues.
Through the banking arena(Steel City was five
blocks from where I grew up), I was president of the Harborland
Jaycees, South Chicago Chamber of Commerce, East Side Chamber of
Commerce, Southeast Lions and currently Board President of Ada S.
McKinley Community Services.
I am a board member of the Chicago Legal Clinic and board
secretary of the Chicago Family Health Center.
I was also involved in an active capacity with the Quigley
Alumni Association from 1990 until the school administration took
over the Annual Alumni Dinner and the golf outings.
Three milestones in my life have been the 1986 “Citizen of
the Year” by the South Chicago Chamber of Commerce, Non-Attorney
Volunteer Award by the Chicago Legal Clinic in 1994 and in 2007 a
Quigley Distinguished Alumni (along with George Rassas).
The Catholic Church is very important in my
life and at my parish , Our Lady of Knock in Calumet City, Illinois,
I serve as a cantor, lector, adult server, SPRED cathecist, member
and past chairman of the liturgy committee, past member of the
finance committee and member of the Spiritual Life Commission of the
parish commissions.
When we had a regular Adult Sunday Choir, I was involved for over 20
years. I am now a
member of our Seasonal Easter, Christmas choir.
I have been very lucky to have
a wonderful tolerant wife in Sylvia who has allowed me to
participate in Civic and Church Groups all these years.
I thank Quigley for the values and ideals I
still try to practice in my daily life.
