Quigley Class of '61 Renunion
Curriculum Vitae
After graduating from Quigley, I stayed the
course through Niles and Mundelein earning a Bachelor’s Degree in
Philosophy and an STL. I later earned a Master’s Degree in
Philosophy from DePaul. I was ordained in 1968 and served the
Archdiocese of Chicago as Associate Pastor at St. Pascal’s and as a
Professor at Quigley South. In 1975 I began what turned out to be a
lifelong career as an Industrial Engineer. There was something about
the combination of humanity and science in the job that kept me
coming back. I worked as an Industrial Engineer at Alden’s on the
west side, Bankers’ Insurance on the northwest
side, The MTM Association in
Park Ridge, and Northrop, later Northrop-Grumman, in Rolling
Meadows. I retired from Northrop in 2008.
Judy and I were married in 1975 and began a
slow migration westward living in Berwyn, North Riverside, LaGrange,
Lombard, and finally in 2008 Davis (Lake Summerset),
IL. That is an average of a little over three miles a year.
Along the way, we had two great kids Margaret and Peter. Margaret
has given us two beautiful grandchildren-Michael and Katie. Also, in
the last 20 years, we enjoyed the loving companionship of dogs.
Whether we buy them or rescue them, they adopt us. Judy and I agree
with what Will Rogers said, “If there are no dogs in heaven, then
when I die, I want to go where they went.”
On top of these bare bones of time and place,
add multiple layers of gratitude and love for all the people and
dogs we encountered along the way. But there must be more since I am
still standing. My question is the same as David’s, “Who am I, O
Lord GOD and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?”
(2 Samuel 7:18)
