John DeSalvo was a lifelong educator. From 1965 to 1983 he was at Lourdes High School as a religion teacher, counselor and later assistant principal. He moved to St. Francis Academy in Joliet where he served as assistant principal until 1994. He then became the Dean of Students for the Health Arts program at the University of St. Francis until 2002. John retired as the Dean of Students at DeVry University in 2008.

John departed to eternal rest on March 5, 2012. He is mourned by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy, two children, John and Jody and four grandchildren. "Truck" is remembered fondly by his Quigley classmates and friends.
